San Francisco (October 18, 2023) - The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) announced it has reached a tentative agreement with Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 1021 for a Collective Bargaining Agreement from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2025.
The agreement includes a 6% salary increase for 2022-23 and a 10% salary increase for 2023-24. Per the agreement, the salary schedules and daily and hourly rates shall be retroactively adjusted to reflect a 6% increase effective July 1, 2022. Salaries for 2024-25 will be subject to future negotiations. In addition, SFUSD will provide a one-time stipend of $1,500 per member.
“We’re pleased to reach a tentative agreement with our labor partners,” SFUSD Superintendent Dr. Matt Wayne said. “Service workers are essential to making our schools work for kids, and this agreement reflects our collective commitment to valuing the integral roles they hold in our school communities.”
In addition, the district and SEIU agreed to work together on issues important to their union members, such as access to affordable housing and additional employee benefit options.
SEIU represents approximately 1,060 district employees, including school secretaries, custodians, food service workers, health workers, and more. Upon ratification by SEIU membership, the tentative agreement will be finalized upon a vote by the San Francisco Board of Education at an upcoming meeting.
